Studio Family Planning and Prep Information

In order to get the most out of our session, please read this information over carefully and reply with requested information in blue.

Please wait until your session time to enter the studio.  You will have a few minutes to dress kiddos, put on shoes, and do a final look in the mirror before we start. However, do not waste too much time getting ready at the studio, as any time used will cut into our shooting time!  Be as ready as possible when you arrive.  Our session time will end promptly at the half hour mark.

Do your best to not make this a rushed or tense experience leading up to our session.  Give yourself plenty of time to get ready.  A healthy meal, with some good protein, before our session, can help as well. Avoid sugars and carbs and anything that can alter your kiddos mood for the worse.  No pressure, mom...I know what you're thinking!!  LOL  Planning a family day after can be a fun incentive.  Go to lunch/dinner/ice cream after our session while y'all are all decked out and looking fabulous!!!!  Kiddos can absolutely feed off of any anxiety or stress, let's not even go there.  So give lots of grace to yourself and your family before our session, and keep reminding yourself, this will be a fun experience. Your family is beautiful, and you will absolutely treasure these photos...even the outtakes, I promise.

More important info:

Bring a clean family!! Trim and clean finger nails. Make sure there are no remains of last meals on faces. And check for sleep in eyes.  Feel free to bring your outfits and change at the studio to keep it clean and unwrinkled.  And double check faces before we start.  I will have wipes on hand if you need them.

No colorful snacks before the session.  Think things that will stain the mouth and teeth like a blue sucker!

Additional editing policy!  There will be additional editing fees for wrinkles, stains, or anything that is easily preventable with some thoughtful preparation.  IE chipped finger nail polish, hair roots needing touch ups, stamps/marker on body, blue sucker stained teeth and lips, and crusty noses, food on face. **Please note, editing blemishes, bobos, bruises and things out of our control are always included in the session fee.

What to bring:

-Bring your shoes.  DO NOT wear them to walk into the studio. We want clean shoes on the backdrop.

-If you are bringing any items to be used in the session, please let me know in advance.

-If you have a family member or friend who is willing to attend to help get kiddo's attention and smiles, you're more than welcome to bring them along!  This is highly encouraged for families with little ones.

Bringing a favorite snack as incentive for little ones is fine, however, do not bring chocolate or anything colored that will stain their mouths, or drool.

Please respect my space by keeping little ones from exploring with their hands in the studio.  Children who are not being photographed are not permitted on or near the set.  Please don't allow little ones to eat and walk around the studio.

1. Giving me tips about your family, such as what your kids enjoy, things that are funny to them, favorite song, favorite character, television show or movie, etc, can be tremendously helpful.  Is your family goofy?  Would talking about toots and who has the stinkiest toots make them giggle, or are you a family who does not joke about tooting and may be embarrassed by asking who has the stinkiest toots?  What are your family dynamics?  Are yall a blended family?  What do step children call step parent?  Any DON'Ts?  Any info you want to share, I'm all ears!

2. Talk to me about your expectations and priority for this session?  (Examples: Family Christmas card photo.   Pleasedearlord just one good family photo with everyone looking at the camera.   Something formal to hang on the wall.  Casual, candid and fun.  I love close ups!  Etc.)  I'm not offended if you want to get specific.  This is YOUR session!  I'm just here to capture your family.

3. Typically I plan for these shots: Family, siblings, kids individually, and parents, then if time allows we could add in other combinations.  Please let me know your order of priority, otherwise, I will shoot as I typically do.

4. Please send me the names and ages of your family members. And any tips/info about each child you'd like to share. You can fill me in on dad too if there are things that would help him relax.

5.  Send me your phone number, please.

6. Do you have a backdrop color request?  Think about what you're using these photos for.  You'll want the color to compliment your wall color and decor if you're planning on hanging it up.   So focus on flowing with that space.

7.  What color backdrop would you like to use?  Click here to see backdrop colors.

8. What is your session date and time?

9. Please take note of my studio address below.  The day of our session, I may be shooting during your travel time and unable to answer a call/text asking for my address.

Quick tips:

-Don't be too matching (i.e. all white/black shirts and jeans, or all plaid and jeans)

-Search google for color pallets, and/or for studio family photography.  Find one that you love and use it to plan your outfits.

-If one family member is in a pattern, let the pattern pull in colors from everyone else's outfits.

-Mom!!  Hey beautiful!!  You're the priority!  Choose your outfit first and plan around that.  And you look gorgeous in long flowey dresses, by the way!  =)

-SEND ME PICTURES of your wardrobe options. I'd love to help if you need me to!

-I'm on your team, mom, let's do this!
